Introduction to media writing and study of the basic theories, methodologies, techniques, principles and formats for the scripting of narrative and non-narrative media, including "New Media." Related software for screenplay, television, industrial and multi-media writing is explored. Required writing course for all MRTS pre-majors. (Sections 001 and 002)

An introduction to basic techniques. Audio, television (studio and location) and single-camera video and film methods are investigated. Includes production exercises and experiments. (Lecture component)

MUEL 2852 Music of the Rock Era. 3 hours. 

Examines Rock music and its subgenres, primarily as a fusion of African-American and European-American musical styles. Considers precursors to Rock style (e.g. Blues, Folk) and their contributions. Traces the development of Rock as an art form as well as its cultural significance and saturation from the 1960s to the end of the 20th century.
